| GOLDEN STARS 2008 BLOCK OF THE MONTH (NON-THANGLES) This year our non-Thangle pieced block of the month is “GOLDEN STARS”, a great pattern that results in twelve different star blocks. The deep rich golds are primarily Thimbleberries & the blocks go together easily. Many of the blocks are traditional star patterns while a few are traditional with a twist. Blocks are 12”, so however you choose to put them together, the result will be a good- sized quilt. By March at the latest we will have several options as suggested ways of finishing – complete with yardage requirements. As in any BOM, finishing kits should be purchased early to ensure fabric availability. The gold tone-on-tones within the blocks would lend themselves beautifully to a multi-colored border. You will not have to finish any block in order to pick up the next one. However no blocks will be available early, so you will need to wait until February 1 to pick up the February block and so on. Also, each kit will be cut exact. This means no trimming for you! It also means no extra fabric scraps when you are finished. Cost each month is $5.00. Your kit will include your pre-cut fabrics & pattern. Occasionally we may be throwing in a surprise – just to keep things interesting! We hope you enjoy “Golden Stars”. Whether you are making this for a gift (wedding or anniversary quilt comes to mind) or keeping this for yourself, this fun BOM will finish to be a “golden” treasure! |
| THANGLES 2008 BUCK-A-BLOCK (BAB) For several years now we have offered a fantastic program – BUCK-A-BLOCK. For just $1.00 per month you can receive fabrics & patterns to make 12 blocks as well as a finishing suggestion that makes into a queen size quilt! This program is a lot of fun! & even the busiest of people can manage to finish one block a month. Here’s how it works- 1. In January pick up your first kit – fabric, pattern & one package of Thangles - $5.50. If you’ve not used Thangles before we will gladly show you. The January pattern also has complete instructions (as well as the package itself). 2. Finish your first block. Anytime in February bring in your first block & pick up the second kit - $1.00. You must bring in your own block during the month of February to receive the next kit for $1.00. If you didn’t finish or you pick up late you may still receive the next kit but the price will be $3.00. 3. Each month simply bring in the previous months’ finished block & receive that month for $1.00 – it’s as easy as that! *Please note: we do not have kits ready ahead of time. The first day of the month is the first day you can pick up that month* 4. Consider EARLY how you may want to finish your quilt. You may use the suggested finishing pattern, or go your own way. Regardless of what you choose, remember – no fabrics last forever. And while we have chosen fabrics that are still available, & should be for quite awhile, nothing is ever guaranteed in the fabric business. That said, if you want to ensure availability when your last block is finished, purchase your finishing fabrics early! We cannot stress this enough. We have many BAB’s finished in a variety of ways for you to look at if you need some inspiration. Just please do not put it off! 5. We are offering two color-ways this year. If you wish to do BOTH color \ways you may do so but the second kit will be $3.00. Some people also want more than 12 blocks. You may purchase a ‘double’ kit, but again the second kit will be $3.00. (Before opting for double blocks, be sure to check out the suggested finishing pattern. Remember it finishes to a queen size, 90 x 110. You could go up to a king by simply enlarging or adding to the borders). That’s all there is to it! – Really pretty simple! We like this year’ s patterns and fabrics - & hope you do as well. | “CHRISTMAS MEMORIES” 2008 BLOCK OF THE MONTH We are pleased to announce a exciting new block of the month, “Christmas Memories”. This project offers pieced & appliquéd blocks, of varying sizes, all joined together to bring the best of our holiday memories into one quilt. Another unique aspect of this quilt is that you may choose to use wool for the appliqué. This is not a difficult pattern, but is definitely NOT for beginners. For the appliqués blocks you may use the method of your choice. Each month’s kit will contain cotton fabrics and pattern for one block. Cost of kit is $5.00. You will not need to finish a block before picking up the next, but kits will not be available early. This project begins in January and runs for twelve months. An added bonus – When we celebrate our annual Christmas in July we will offer even more ideas for finishing! |

| !!NEW!! Option #1 is a Thangle* pattern, “Summer Roses” which makes a full/queen size quilt. Fabrics are beautiful pinks and greens – perfect as a gift for a daughter or niece, or keep it to ‘summer-ize’ your own room. This quilt really does make you think of a summer rose garden. You receive fabrics and patterns for TWO blocks each month, which would put you finishing in December. Cost is $9.00/month. Option #2 is an original pattern by Leona, “Prairie Flowers”. Also a full/queen size this quilt is done in Civil War reds and blues, or another color-way of golds/greens/reds. The block construction is simple with each center a different appliquéd flower. The unique element of this quilt is the embellishing on the flowers with laces, buttons and more! You will need to purchase the starter kit of block fabrics ($29.95) and then each month you will receive fabrics and patterns for one center flower at $5.00. **SPECIAL for these two BOMs – we will MAIL either for an additional $1.50 each month; this in an effort to save a few gas dollars for our out of town friends. |
